Paint Jobs and Pride: Inside TNF's SKIN Culture

In a game where your ship is your character, the paint job is the outfit. TNF keeps a dedicated SKIN channel, and over the December 2025 holidays it became the most colourful room on the corp Discord.

On December 27, MontyGTV dropped seven custom designs made with CCP's SKINR1 system, captioned with heroic modesty: "been dabbling in this for a bit.. here's a few monty skins."

It became one of the most-reacted posts in the channel's history, and it opened the floodgates. SadisticSloth went digging through his archives for screenshots. Motty 007 shared his own designs the next day.

Jekktarr picked a favourite straight away ("that megathron skin is 🔥"), and Monty pointed out that Marri02 had gone further than anyone: a whole matching set of ships in the same blue paint, a uniform for his PvE gang.

Months later, in June 2026, Motty posted another custom pattern and discovered he had never saved it.

Apparently i didnt save this design so its a 1 of a kind.

Which means somewhere in a TNF fleet there is a ship nobody, Motty included, can ever paint again.

Taste is a battlefield

Not every colour scheme gets a pass. Back in June 2025, Anhenka delivered a firm review of some of the coalition's louder looks, singling out "hideous yellow striped bee themes" and one near pure red structure he called "eye blinding."

Odysemus took the philosopher's view on why he hesitates to splash out on serious SKINs:

knowing that even if I take it serious, others dont.

Every artist knows the feeling.

Gifts and wish lists

Paint is also a present. In December 2025 Lex Ashwari-Thrace gave Odysemus a SKIN, and the thank-you was immediate: "Absolutely LOVE this SKIN, Lex. Thank you!" Killjoy Ender saw it and asked the obvious question: "I can haz?"

Everyone has a style. GSCyber described his own taste as "all flat blacks, with a few shiny blacks," and in April 2026 showed off his latest with two words: "dis mine." Aralo Meza spent the summer of 2026 eyeing up new looks, announcing "time to pimp" a favourite hull and deciding another design was exactly what his Drake needed. And Sllice has been asking the question since June 2025: "when are we getting a corp skin 😄"

The shared hangar

TNF does not just admire SKINs, it shares them. As SadisticSloth explained in May 2026: "a few of us donate all the skin junk we get to the corp skin hangar. theres tons in there for anyone interested."

He also admitted that he outsources his own SKIN work entirely to Motty. Every corp needs a tailor.

Why it matters

SKINs are cosmetic, and that is exactly the point. Nobody needs a custom paint job to win a fight. TNF pilots make them anyway, give the spares away, and argue about yellow stripes like old friends. That is what a community looks like when the shooting stops. (See also: the corp's sense of humour.)
