"OFFICIAL CORP ANNOUNCEMENT: Lex Ascends to Director." That was the headline on June 27, 2026, and with 36 reactions it became the most-reacted announcement of the year.
Motty 007 wrote it, entirely at his own expense. He described his own leadership style as "the ancient and noble strategy of logging in twice a month, clicking two things, and immediately going AFK," and warned that Lex Ashwari-Thrace would now carry duties "so demanding it has been known to require up to four minutes of effort per fortnight."
The updated contact list was simple:
- Not happy about something? Call Lex.
- Someone ninja'd your site? Call Lex.
- Got ganked, lost your pod, and need someone to blame? Call Lex.
- Structure under attack, sov on fire, wallet empty? You guessed it, Lex.
Motty himself, the post added, would be reachable "strictly via carrier pigeon, smoke signal, or a perfectly aligned planetary conjunction roughly every six weeks."
Under the jokes sat real respect. Pict1on added warm congratulations, and Harrat chimed in: "Congrats sir, well deserved!"
PalmarSiamang53 spotted the loophole within minutes: "Wait, we can harass Lex for everything now?" And Judas Aralius used the moment to admire the board: "Corp pvp looking real nice right now. Way to flex TNFED."
Nobody was surprised. Three months earlier Lex had been named Krabmaster Field General for helping miners and ratters1. On April 1 he shared top honours in the monthly kill contest. He runs boosts on corp mining ops, calls standing fleets and is, by universal agreement, always on comms. One of his April fleet pings listed the FC as "Fly your own damn shit."
The idea had a fan before it existed. Two days after the promotion, Trajon Thrax had told Lex: "OK. I now demand medals for stuff we do!!!" Marri02 reminisced about the half dozen medals he earned back when CCP first added them, flying with Pict1on, and Anhenka declared his only target: "if there's a ship spinning one I'm going to win that one. Fight me Aralo."
It took less than a day for the first proud owner to show up. Trajon Thrax posted a screenshot of his new decoration: "Proud of this. Thank you Lex and the rest of the Leadership that implemented this award system."
Somewhere, a pilot is already lining up a run at most deaths.
